Wear resistance: After anti-UV coating treatment, the wear resistance of PC boards can be improved several times, which is similar to that of glass. Hot forming can be cold-bent into a certain arc without cracks, and can be cut or drilled again. Anti-theft and anti-gun PC can be pressed together with glass to form security windows for use in hospitals, schools, libraries, banks, embassies and prisons, where the glass can improve the hardness and wear resistance of the board. PC can also be laminated with other PC layers or acrylics for traditional security applications.
Anti-ultraviolet: It can prevent super ultraviolet rays. Only the surface of some single-layer boards will turn yellow or become hazy under long-term sunlight exposure. It is also suitable for low temperature resistant materials. PC board has excellent thermal insulation performance. Under the same thickness conditions, the thermal insulation performance of PC board is about 16% higher than that of glass, which can effectively block the transmission of heat energy. Whether it keeps you warm in winter or prevents heat from intruding in summer, PC boards can effectively reduce building energy consumption and save energy.
Anti-combustion performance: PC board has good flame retardancy and does not produce toxic gases when burned. Its smoke concentration is lower than that of wood and paper. It is determined to be a first-class flame-retardant material and complies with environmental protection standards. After 30 seconds of burning the sample, its burning length did not exceed 25mm. The flammable gas was decomposed only when the hot air reached 467°C. Therefore, after relevant measurements, it is considered that its fire protection performance is qualified.
Resistance to chemical substances: No reaction to acid, alcohol, juice, and beverages; it also has certain resistance to gasoline and kerosene, and will not crack or lose light transmittance within 48 hours of contact. However, it has poor chemical resistance to certain chemicals (such as amines, esters, halogenated hydrocarbons, and paint thinners).
Light weight: The density of polycarbonate is about 1.29/cm, which is half lighter than glass. If it is made into a hollow PC board, its mass is 1/3 of organic glass and about 1/15~1/12 of glass. Hollow PC boards have excellent stiffness and can be used as frame components. The lightweight PC board makes construction safer and more convenient, and can greatly save shipping and construction time and costs.
